BantuNauts RAYdio Episode #149: African Masquerade
It’s exciting to hear about all the events related to African culture happening here in Arkansas. Mercy Sebastian and Brittany Kanu called us from Conway (Arkansas) to tell us about The African Masquerade Ball that will happen on November 16th, 2017. The event is organized by the African Student Association at the University of Central Arkansas. It will feature dances, a fashion show and food from the African countries represented on campus. The masquerade will be hosted by Mr. Cocoyam, a popular Ghanaian comedian based in New York.
Patricia Yumba sent us her takeaways about the Afrobeat meets South African House event featuring Dele Sosimi, Black Motion and DJ Kent. The event was organized by the Music In Africa Foundation and helped her better understand the Afrobeat music genre created by Fela Kuti.
We also chatted with Shem, who was our guest on episode 130. During his birthday month, he’s been raising funds to support New Beginnings. It is an organization based in Malawi to support teen and young expectant girls and mothers who had children out of wedlock.
During this show, we also premiered a song by Congolese artist, Majoos.
