) –1. MohBad’s full name is Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba. He was born on June 8, 1996. [1]
2. Many people interpreted the name “Mohbad” as “I’m bad”. But, in an interview, Mohad explained that he came up with this name because someone told him how “bad” (meaning good), he was with music. So, he later came up with the meaning “Moh Bright And Destined” for MohBad – which means I am bright and destined. He also used the nickname “Imole”, a Yoruba word that means “light”.[2][3]
3. MohBad hails from Lagos State, Nigeria.
4. He became known on the Nigerian music scene in the late-2010s and is known for his unique style and sound. MohBad is associated with the Marlian Music record label, founded by Naira Marley. Mohbad’s association with Marlian Music has helped him gain recognition in the music industry.
5. MohBad issued his first EP, Light, in 2019 after agreeing to a record deal with Marlian Records World. The eight songs on the EP feature Davido, Naira Marley, and Lil Kesh. The 8-track EP was executive produced by Naira Marley and production credits go to SB, Rexxie, P.Beat, and Austin Sinister.
6. In April 2023, Mobad and his wife, Omawunmi, had a son. His wife and infant son were not present at his funeral.
7. On September 12th, 2023, Mohbad died after treatment for an ear infection. The artist was buried by members of his family a few hours after his death. Videos of his burial shared on social media showed Mohbad’s neck bent unnaturally to fit into the coffin. [4]

Many musicians attended the tribute concert. Some of the attendees raised his portrait above their heads. Others wore his face on their shirts. 9. Mohbad’s second EP Blessed, was released in June 2023 under his own label, Imolenization.. It was his first EP after leaving Marlian Records World. The eight songs on the 20-minute EP featured Nigerian artists Zlatan and Bella Shmurda, and producers Niphkeys and Timi Jay. [5]
