1. The Silent Sea, South Korea

Genre: Science fiction, thriller, mystery, TV series

A group of space soldiers and scientists (including one astrobiologist) is sent to the moon. Their mission is to retrieve mysterious lunar samples from an abandoned research station. On Earth, there is a water crisis: annual rainfalls are very low, most of the planet is experiencing devastating droughts, and water has to be rationed. The samples could be the solution to the water crisis on Earth.

2. How to Ruin Christmas, South Africa

Cast: Busi Lurayi, Thando Thabethe, Clementine Mosimane, Yonda Thomas, Motlatsi Mafatshe, Sandile Mahlangu, Lehlohonolo Saint Seseli, and Charmaine Mtinta

Genre: Comedy, drama, TV series

Tumi goes home for the holidays and for her sister’s wedding. She is free-spirited and describes herself as having a “Ph.D. in bad ideas”. She always ends up messing things up. Will she manage to make them right? Bonus: This series has a great soundtrack.

Amina is based on the true story of a historical figure. Queen Amina was a ruler of Zazzau, a state in the northwest region of present-day Nigeria.
